Investment in technology and innovation are the keys to the development of agriculture.

The theme was one of the highlights of the 19th edition of Wintershow, the largest technical event of winter cereals of Brazil, which ended this Thursday (20), in Guarapuava, in the Center-South.

Organized by Agrarian cooperative, the event invested in presenting new developments and solutions in the production of barley and wheat, essential raw materials for the cooperative's industries.

According to Secretary of Agriculture of Paraná, Norberto Ortigara, there is no sector with as high a competitive potential as Paraná's agriculture, and the government is committed to promoting technological innovations, investing in more infrastructure and connectivity.

“We are living in a unique moment of innovation, of meeting goals to make a difference. We already have recognized quality and health,” he said.

Historically, Paraná has led the production of winter cereals in Brazil. Approximately 60% of the national production of barley and 50% of national wheat production is concentrated in the state.

Currently, the barley area in the state is 84 thousand hectares.

The harvest began a few days ago, reaching 6% of the area and the estimated production is 388 thousand tons, 31% higher compared to the previous cycle when it reached 296 thousand tons. The cultivation of the cereal is gaining momentum to increase production in the state.

New ventures, such as Maltaria Campos Gerais, based in Ponta Grossa, which is scheduled to open in 2023, in addition to investments by cooperatives, tend to expand the planting area destined for these products in Paraná.

Amaltaria is the result of intercooperation between Agrarian, Bom Jesus, Capal, Castrolanda, Coopagrícola and Frisia.

WinterShow 2022 is promoted by Agrária and the Agrarian Foundation for Agricultural Research (Fapa) in partnership with Sebrae.

In addition to the large companies in the sector, in 2022 WinterShow opened space for the participation of 30 startups.
