Formiga, in the Midwest region of the state, will host “What If? Innovation Day” this Thursday (27/10), an innovation event promoted by the TEIA (Work, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Learning) movement. The goal is to show, in a practical way, how innovation relates to the market and its value for local economic development. During the initiative, the organizers will present the CITFOR Challenge, which aims to use innovation to optimize the work of the Formiga Municipal Food Bank.

The event will take place at the ACIF/CDL Events Center, starting at 18:30 pm. Registration is free and can be done using this link. The public will have the opportunity to learn first-hand the details of the CITFOR Challenge. The city government will present the main difficulties faced by the Banco de Mantimentos de Formiga and hopes to receive proposals from students, entrepreneurs and the community in general to solve the problems through innovation. “The challenge will be held on November 4th and 5th, when the difficulties encountered by the Banco de Mantimentos administration will be presented. The goal is to have a weekend to get ideas off the ground and put innovation into practice,” highlights Ana Caroline Pessoni, a critic from Sebrae Minas.

During the event this Friday, those interested in participating in the Challenge will be able to register. The three best proposals presented in the CITFOR Challenge will receive cash prizes. The best proposal guarantees a spot in the Formiga Innovation and Technology Center, the municipal incubator that will be inaugurated at the end of November. During the “What If? Innovation Day” the public will learn how the incubator works.

The Municipal Food Bank in Formiga is a city government initiative that has been donating food to families in vulnerable social situations for years. With the challenge of innovation in mind, the city government intends to optimize the project's operation and solve the difficulties faced by the initiative.

In fact, the City of Formiga explains that the goal of the incubator is to provide entrepreneurs with a specific place to develop ideas and businesses. “It will provide support for entrepreneurs to present their minimally viable results for testing and insertion into the market. The approach to the incubator is through a public notice, which will be launched soon by the city,” explains the director of economic development of the City of Formiga, Natália Medeiros.
