The program Cooperativism in the News This week will highlight the tribute to Dr. Glauco Olinger, one of the main promoters of modern agriculture and the campaign that awarded the best grain producers from the northern plateau of Santa Catarina.
A CENTENARY CITIZEN
Agriculture in Santa Catarina has a lot of surprises in store, which I'm going to tell you about. One of them is the tribute to Dr. Glauco Olinger, who celebrated his 100th birthday in September. This centenarian was the mastermind behind many projects.
He created the Center for Agricultural Sciences and the Agronomy course at the federal university, ACARESC, now EPAGRI, and was also Secretary of State for Education and Agriculture. He wrote dozens of books and defended hundreds of theses. And we cannot forget that Mr. Glauco was also the driving force behind the creation of agricultural cooperatives in the state.
COPERDIA BEST CAMPAIGN
One of the main exponents of grain production in Santa Catarina is the northern plateau. There are producers who adopt advanced technologies, who always seek to evolve, but who from time to time need to be encouraged. And that's where Copérdia came into the picture.
She set up a campaign, all made up of rules, with the objective of creating planting protocols, invited producers and, with the field results, awarded the best associates of 2022. On average, between the first and third place, production per hectare was well above 100 bags.
Two details caught our attention: well-done fertilization and the use of certified seeds.
The Cooperativismo em Notícia program is produced by the communications team at FECOAGRO/SC and broadcast by Canal Rural on Saturdays at 08:30 am, with reruns on Tuesdays at 13:30 pm.
