The Food Bank of the Municipal Department of Agriculture, Environment and Supply (Sema), through a partnership with Mesa Brasil/Sesc, received 2.158,9 kg of Yoki brand food. The products will be distributed to the 28 entities registered by the program.
Director of the Sema Supply Department, Josimar Correia de Araújo, assessed that “the partnership with Mesa Brasil/Sesc is of great importance in expanding and strengthening the Municipal Food and Nutrition Security Program in the municipality because it allows us to combat hunger and avoid waste”.
Food Bank Program
The Valadares Food Bank program is part of the City Hall's public food and nutritional security (SAN) policies. Since 2017, the program has distributed more than 370 tons of food. The balance is that more than 3 registered people in socially vulnerable situations are being served by registered social assistance entities.
The entities benefiting are: Apae, Home for the Elderly, Shelter Services - Male Unit and Female Unit, Shelter Service for Children - Home, Shelter Service for Women Victims of Violence - Shelter Home, Shelter Service for Homeless People - Night Shelter, Santa Luzia Association, Fabiano de Cristo Home, Santa Bernadete Girl's House Foundation, Dona Zulmira House, Acolhevida, Association for the Protection and Assistance of the Convicted (APAC), Evangelical Missionary Association of Life - Missão Vida, Nosso Lar Institute, Cidade dos Meninos, Association for the Shelter of Chemical Dependents and Families (ADQF), Valadarense Association for Assistance and Defense of the Rights of the Exceptional (AVADDE), Ebenezer Beneficent Group, Shelter Hope, APAE, Lar Frei, UPP Palmeiras, Ascanavi, Desafio Jovem do Rio Doce (Dejord), Association of Waste Pickers Solid Waste Recycling Today for a Better Future (ASCARF) and the municipal bodies Centro POP and Municipal Hospital (HMGV).
