With technology, farmers can reduce fertilizer use by 20% without losing productivity

The surge of fertilizer prices was one of the major concerns for farmers this year. It is no surprise that the topic was chosen for a series of lectures by Embrapa, which travels around Brazil providing information about T capable of making the use of input for plant nutrition more rational, proposing existing and validated technological solutions for different production regions. The subject was also highlighted in Good morning Senar-MT this week, which received the researcher and Deputy Head of Technology Transfer, Flávio Wruck.

According to Wruck, the journey of “Embrapa Caravan” started in May and will continue until the end of the 2002/23 harvest. In total, more than 40 production hubs in 10 agricultural macro-regions of Brazil will receive the specialists. Mato Grosso, the largest grain producer in the country, has already received the delegation, which passed through the municipalities of Sinop, Querência, Rondonópolis, Tangará da Serra and Campo Novo do Parecis.

    Central topics

Aimed at an audience of rural leaders, technicians and producers, the meetings cover regional characteristics and feature lectures given by different researchers from different regions of Brazil. There are 5 central topics: “planning where and when to plant: knowing the soil to better use and manage it”, “Good practices for the efficient use of fertilizers”, “new inputs”, “digital solutions” and “more sustainable management practices”.

With the tools presented and instructions given during the lectures, Flávio states that “the farmer who puts all this into practice technology combo, can reduce the use of fertilizers in crops by up to 20% by 2030, without losing productivity”.

    How to watch the lectures

For those producers who were unable to attend the lectures, simply access the website www.embrapa.br/caravana-embrapa , sign the Digital caravan (free of charge) to receive and watch all the presentations and technical materials. “After the election period, they can follow what was presented in Mato Grosso,” says the researcher.
