The new value of industrial grapes, established by the National Monetary Council (CMN) in accordance with a proposal sent to the National Supply Company (Conab) for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), was published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU ) this Friday (2) by ordinance no. 522.
The increase follows or increases our industrial grape production costs, mainly influenced by investments in the crop, such as labor, fertilizers, pesticides and packaging. The new possible value for the winegrower appears at his expense or not in cases of market price crises, thus contributing to guaranteeing a minimum remuneration for producers.

An analysis of the market situation in the wine sector presents some problems. Among them, the uncertain century regarding the end of the war in the Black Sea and a market that was not very favorable to industrial grape derivatives years ago – due to high global inflation and the possibility of withdrawal. On the other hand, changing competition can positively influence wine exports.
It is worth remembering that imports of Brazilian wines are registered here. Between 2020 and 2021, there was an 8,5% reduction in volume, returning to the gains of 2015. The volume of Brazilian wine exports, in the same period, was around 73% more, considering the same period in relation to 2019 .
Argentina, Uruguay and Chile are the main suppliers of imported wines from Brazil, with an average share of 10,0% for each country. In the case of foreign sales, China is the main destination for Brazilian wines, absorbing an average of 90,0% of the total sold in the same period.
According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Brazilian wine production has expanded its geographic distribution in recent decades, but has become concentrated enough in some years, mainly in Rio Grande do Sul, so that participation is not Grape cultivation for industrial purposes exceeds 80%.
